At last! April 1st, 2016, was (actually, still is) the day I could finally introduce a new gallery: Oil. I have been longing to do this ever since I started my own website, and especially since I switched to the new design. After rigidly tidying my contents, I couldn’t wait to finally fill this category up again. The first work presented here ist [Unbenannt], or [Unnamed]. And yes, this painting actually is unnamed. I might add a title some time later, but I am not sure I ever will. Most paintings I finish already get their title during sketching, but others don’t seem to want to be named, so I call them just that. Unnamed.
This guy (click on him – he won’t bite!) helped me not only getting into pigment grinding. I also learned a lot along the way of painting him. There’s many bits in it I really like and that turned out just how I wanted them to. However, there is also quite a few parts I don’t like, at all. I still stopped the process at this point to avoid overdoing the whole thing. It is good the way it is, and I still like it despite its weak spots. I like seeing the learning process in it, and I cannot wait to apply what I learned to a new oil painting!
The photograph was taken right after I put the brushes aside and decided it was done. The paint is still wet and reflective. I will update this work once I get a better scan/photograph of it (oil paint dries painfully slow!).
